so I went to a bible study tonight with one of the clubs on campus and we read Romans 1:18-32 which includes the very controversial:
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.”
And I’m just like really? my first time there and we’re gonna talk about this okay. well you can bet I stayed completely silent when they discussed that part. One girl was like “This isn’t grey it’s in black and white. God is telling us it’s wrong” and basically the whole group agreed that, yes, homosexuality is a sin, but it’s just as bad as any other sin and we should support someone who’s struggling with it (and the same girl was like ‘as long as they are struggling with it and its not something they think is okay’ and I’m like WTF??) It coulda been worse though and I wanted the whole time to just be like “well actually you could interpret it like this…” but I didn’t wanna seem like I knew more than them and I also would have been the only one disagreeing… Damn i honestly just don’t understand how people could think it’s like a choice at all. it kinda blows my mind. One of the girls even talked about her gay friend (she fuckin’ used the word homosexual) who went into depression because she thought she was going against the bible and I’m just like where’s the sympathy people!!
